DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR PRIVATE SCHOOL?

One of the questions that parents sometimes ask when child support is being determined or if attempting to modify child support is whether they will be required to pay for private school. Usually, a parent is not required to pay for a child to attend private school. If your children are already going to private school and you can afford to continue, under this scenario a judge will probably order that you continue paying for private school. The judge may be open to alternative arrangements if you can offer a sound reason why you should not be required to pay for private school.

I understand the financial burden that expenses such as private school can have and that is why I am committed to working with you to craft an agreement that will still allow your child to maintain the continuity in their education in place prior to the divorce. If you need help negotiating the terms of your child support payments or you need legal representation during divorce proceedings, call Darren K. Edwards, P.A. and schedule your initial consultation at once.
